Hello RMSL players and parents;

This email is to inform you of a major change within the RMSL community. Due to changing demographics within Regina and our softball community we have had to take a hard look at how the RMSL operates. We struck up a rezoning committee last year to look at our zones and considered the following items: the number of players in each age division, this years’ fall evaluations, zone executive volunteer numbers, future residential development locations, and most importantly how to draw new zone boundaries that will best fit our softball community.  Their proposal was then presented at the Softball SK AGM in the fall and then later discussed with the president of Saskatoon Minor Softball and Softball SK.  The decision that best fits softball in Regina and the surrounding area is to have 2 operating zones rather than 4; we will still maintain the team names Lazers, Fighting Saints, Falcons and Royals and these uniforms will continue to represent Regina softball.

I have attached a map that was built/provided by rezoning committee that represents all age divisions in each new zone.  Keep in mind the map was built using postal codes and birth dates of every registered player in the RMSL in 2014. So many of the flags represent 2 or more families that share the same postal code. You will notice that the zones, although geographically look very skewed, numerically they are very close.  These new boundaries are going to affect some families more than others and we understand that, we ask that you please have faith that the executive members of each zone and coaches will be very involved in ensuring there is minimal drastic changes. The goal is to achieve fair and equitable A and B teams in each zone.  Another goal is that the coaches of the teams in each zone will sit down and discuss player selection so that there will be equity....we will not be all starring any one team!

For out of town players attending high school in Regina your zone will be the one your school is located in.

There are many more details to be worked out, this is the first notice to all our members that there will be changes in how the RMSL operates in 2015 and we want all our members to know that we are doing our best to ensure that softball in Regina and the surrounding area continues to grow and support our athletes. Please check the RMSL website for continued updates www.rmsl.ca
